Greetings,
My name is Tim Bronson, a part time local resident and a native of
Florida. I am from two Florida pioneer families and grew up in
Steinhatchee, Florida. I have lived here from time to time all of my
life. I currently split my time, residing in Central Florida part of
the time. I have a
home in Steinhatchee with many friends and family ties here.
Most of my free time is spent here as
We are charter member of The Sand Hill Hunting Club and I have hunted here since my youth. I am an advocate of hunting and deer hunting with hounds. I maintain a a kennel of healthy deer hounds and believe in the humane treatment of animals. I do not believe hunting to be inhumane but submit that hunting helps to maintain a healthy animal population and does promote responsibility and conservation values. I was introduced to hunting by my Uncles and Grand Father at around the age of six. They hunted squirrels, turkeys ducks, and rabbits in Tide Swamp and ducks on the coast. They were all good hunters and fishermen. Most of the time they were successful hunters whenever they could keep me quiet. This web site was published to provide an inside view of the area, with some useful information for visitors. I felt that this site should not be for the sole purpose of promoting the area without regard to conserving it's natural beauty, local traditions, and heritage. Today Steinhatchee is still quaint and a nice place to live and visit. Wholesale development threatens to eventually take away it's uniqueness and Steinhatchee could become just another waterfront community with crowded streets and condo's on every available lot. Well managed growth would be a plus for this community helping to keep the area attractive, freindly, and quaint for years to come. Steinhatchee's true assets are it's quaintness, pristine river, uncluttered shoreline, vast woodlands, great fishing, good hunting, and friendly residents. It is these assets really make Steinhatchee a nice place to live, play or visit. The assets of this community hopefully will be reflected on this web site. Steinhatchee were commercial Mullet fishermen before the net fishing
ban. Net fishing was a way of life for my family and I was
raised in that tradition. I was fortunate to have had the
experience of spending a lot of time on the water as a youth and
later as an adult. My local knowledge comes from that
experience. I have worked here as a deputy sheriff, a
commercial fisherman, and local fishing guide and have always
considered Steinhatchee my home
